兩岸的未來，國民黨總統參選人朱立倫29日直言不是貼標籤的遊戲：「國民黨不必然就是『親中賣台』，民進黨也不必然就是『逢中必反』」，兩岸議題需要共同面對，而兩岸的未來，不能只有和平，還要合作，他也因此呼籲朝野政黨「兩岸監督條例」一定要過。
他對「兩岸維持現狀」的說法，提出批評指出，現狀是動態的，如果「現狀」一直維持3、5年不動，就無法在國際上與他國相競爭，所以，兩岸的未來，一定要在和平的基礎上，走向合作，而不是只有和平。
對於合作，朱立倫說，凡是兩岸共同面臨的挑戰、困境乃至於發展方向「都要合作」，例如，中國政府積極推動的RCEP、亞投行與一帶一路等，「台灣不只是參與而已，而是要兩岸雙方要合作。」
他還說，甚至是台商及陸資企業共同面臨的轉型及產業布局、還有供應鏈問題，「都可相互合作。」
當然，對紫光大舉來台的難題，朱立倫也說，為免台灣產業失去戰略上的優勢，「政府可以出面與中國大陸直接談，兩岸可以如何分工？如何面對國際的競爭？」他說，不是只有兩岸彼此在競爭，不管是中國還是台灣，還要與韓國、日本甚至與美國競爭，「兩岸應合作共同面對。」
